Swimming and diving teams set to compete

After a bye week, the MSU men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads return to action on Friday.

MSU will meet Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., at 5 p.m. at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.

The Spartan men are 0-3 overall, 0-1 in the Big Ten will battle with a 1-1 Notre Dame team that finished first in a six-team field earlier this season. The women, 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, go against a 1-1-1 Fighting Irish squad.

“This is going to be a great meet,” head coach Jim Lutz said in a statement. “They are a very competitive team.”

The day after, the MSU men’s team will host the first home meet of the year at IM Sports-West when intrastate rival Michigan enters Charles McCaffree indoor pool Saturday.

“We like to have the opportunity to compete against the best teams we can find and we have that with Michigan,” Lutz said.
