Speaker to discuss communications

David Clark, Internet pioneer, will speak about the future of wireless services and communications policy at 7 p.m. tonight at MSU's Henry Center for Executive Development, 3535 Forest Road.

MSU's Quello Center is hosting the event as part of it's annual lecture series. The presentation is titled "Spectrum Policy, the Internet and Open Access." A reception will precede the talk at 6 p.m.

"In the next decade wireless mobiles will possibly become the most important way of communications," said Johannes Bauer, associate director of the Quello Center. "It is very important to understand how policy influences the flexibility of mobile communications."

Clark is a senior research scientist at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science and chairman of the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council.

"Advanced wireless technologies have the potential to further revolutionize communications and the way the Internet and information is accessed," said Steven Wildman, director of the Quello Center. "We are very pleased to be able to bring one of the pioneers of Internet technologies to Lansing to help us explore the future of wireless services and related spectrum policies."

The public is welcome but R.S.V.P. is requested at (517)432-8001.
