Miller demoted back to Rochester Americans

November 26, 2002

After a two-game stint in the NHL, former MSU goaltender Ryan Miller was sent back to the minor-league Rochester Americans on Sunday.

Miller went 1-0-0-1 in his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres, but he allowed eight total goals to the New Jersey Devils and Columbus Blue Jackets. He beat Columbus 5-4 on Friday for his first career win.

His goals against average was 3.97 and his saves percentage was .826 with Buffalo.

Miller, 22, forfeited his senior season at MSU to sign with the Sabres in August. Buffalo recalled goalie Mika Noronen from Rochester on Sunday to take Miller's roster spot.

Also in the world of MSU hockey, the annual "Skate with the Spartans" event is 7-8 p.m. tonight at Munn Ice Arena.
