Event to provide major information

Freshmen and sophomores still searching for academic information can save time by stopping by Bessey Hall on Thursday.

The Marathon of Majors is a gathering of academic advisers and representatives from all 14 MSU colleges from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the first floor hallway of Bessey Hall. Representatives will provide guidance to students who are investigating possible majors.

Topics covered include choosing a major, academic requirements, scholarships, internships and career opportunities.

The Office of Student Academic Affairs of the Undergraduate University Division, which is responsible for advising freshmen and sophomores, is sponsoring the event.

Also attending will be representatives from Office of Study Abroad, The Service-Learning Center, Career Services & Placement and the Learning Resource Center.

Eyad Batayeh, an adviser for the Undergraduate University Division, said it's a very informal gathering that can save students time.

"Instead of scheduling appointments with one or two advisers, students can talk to many advisors," he said. "It's one-stop shopping."
