Many concerns have been brought up about health and safety regarding the idea of a smoking ban in residence halls.

I lived in Campbell Hall during my stay at MSU and lived above the north stairwell. Many smokers would congregate around that door to smoke because that is where the ashtray was placed.

This was very inconvenient as the smoke would drift up and enter my room.

The other problem I encountered was a chain smoker who would keep his door shut and be polite, but he smoked so much that the smoke would roll out from under the door.

Both were problems to me as I have a slight allergy to cigarette smoke, as I am sure some others do, too.
