Team closes out successful fall season

The men’s golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday with a sixth place finish at the Duke Golf Classic.

After two rounds the team was tied for first place on day one, but with a final round of 308 it fell 24 strokes behind the eventual tournament winner, Augusta State University.

The team was led by junior Casey Lubahn who tied for 15th with an overall score of 221, five strokes over par.

Seniors John Koskinen and Eric Jorgensen finished 20th (223) and 23rd (224), respectively.

Juniors Ben Fox placed 29th and J.J. Beckstrom placed 60th to round the scoring for the Spartans.

Augusta State’s Oliver Wilson won the tournament with a seven-under performance.

The Spartans finished with two first places in the fall. The men return to action in the spring.
