University groups that use Roberts Rules of Order to direct their meetings are invited to attend the Residence Halls Associations parliamentary seminar at 6:30 p.m. today in 129 Hubbard Hall.
Roberts Rules are a set of procedures adopted by nonlegislative bodies, and are used by various government and student groups.
Connie Deford, president of the Michigan Association of Parliamentarians, will be the guest speaker at the event.
John Sturk, RHA internal vice president, said the meeting should help clear up some of the confusion.
Some people are intimidated by parliamentarian procedures, he said.
They sit at government meetings as chair decoratings instead of active participants. This meeting should help educate people.
Refreshments and pizza will be provided by RHA. For more information, e-mail Sturk at rha@msu.edu.
