Lecture, teach-in to talk about possible Iraqi war

Events objecting to the war on Iraq will take place Friday on and off campus.

A teach-in on Iraq will take place from 3-5 p.m. in B-108 Wells Hall. The event is sponsored by the Faculty, Staff and Student Coalition Against the War in Iraq.

Topics discussed at the lecture will be background on Iraq, its relation to Islam and the negative consequences for the United States.

The topics will also expand to imperialism, the history of U.S. interventions in foreign policy and the aims of U.S. policies.

Protesters of the war also can gather Friday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Blue Note Coffee Café, 623 E. Grand River Ave.

DJ Ruckus, Third Degree, Benny Ben and Maria Zavala are scheduled to attend. The event will include poetry, hip hop and spoken word performances.

A rally and march will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the fountain in front of the Marriott at University Place, 300 M.A.C.
