Student group to hold interfaith meeting

September 12, 2002

The Muslim Student Association will join the American Muslim Council and the Islamic Society of Greater Lansing in organizing an interfaith meeting to commemorate the anniversary of Sept. 11.

From 6-8 p.m. Thursday at The Islamic Center, 920 S. Harrison Ave., the Unity, Prayer and Remembrance Day will include speakers from diverse faiths.

Mahmoud Moussa, president of the Islamic Society, said leaders from various faiths were asked to speak at the prayer service.

Refreshments will be provided, and Moussa said he hopes interfaith views will be exchanged.

“We inviting people of different faiths and different organizations to share in a moment of reflection and prayer for peace and compassion while remembering the victims of 9- 11,” Moussa said.
