Spartan BIGS, the on-campus extension of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lansing Inc., will hold its first meeting for the year at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Union.

Spartan BIGS is a student group that recruits students to become Big Brothers and Big Sisters and supports students who already are in mentoring programs.

Members participate in various activities such as the Homecoming parade, Christmas and Halloween parties, Spartan BIGS Sports Day, scavenger hunts, women’s basketball games and other activities.

Mojo and other hosts from WWDX (92.1-FM) do radio promotions for the organization and help with activities.

Spartan BIGS also does fund raising, such as “Bowl for Kids Sake.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lansing provides one-on-one mentoring programs for at-risk youth in the community. There are more than 400 children served throughout the year in programs offered by the agency.
