Men tee off in annual tournament in Indiana

No. 11 MSU men’s golf team will compete in the annual Northern Intercollegiate this weekend at the Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.

The Northern Intercollegiate is a fall preview for the 2003 Big Ten Championship, which Indiana will host May 2-4.

MSU tied for third place in the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational Sept. 16-17, when they finished behind No. 2 Florida and No. 9 Oklahoma State.

All-American senior Eric Jorgensen led the team, tying for eighth place overall.

Of the 15 teams competing, nine are from the Big Ten, including defending NCAA National Champions No. 5 Minnesota. No. 7 Penn State and No.14 Illinois are among the other highly-ranked teams scheduled to play.

The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament are scheduled for Saturday, with the final round of 18 holes scheduled for Sunday.
