Black Greek Week to continue until Friday

September 10, 2002

Black Greek Week began Monday and will run until Friday. An icebreaker, scheduled for Saturday night, will culminate the week long event.

A symposium will be held from 8-10 p.m. in the Holden Hall classrooms for anyone interested in joining one of MSU’s eight black fraternities and sororities. Each group decides when recruitment takes place. Prospective greek students can have any questions answered at the meeting.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council will be joined by other student leaders and MSU President M. Peter McPherson for a candlelight vigil remembering the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the rock on Farm Lane.

A lecture about “The Value of History for US in the Twenty-First Century” will be given by history Professor Pero Dagbovie from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Erickson Kiva.

There will be free bowling from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Spartan Lanes in the basement of the Union.

From 2:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, community service can be done at the East Lansing Health Care Center, 2815 Northwind Drive.

To end the week, the council will sponsor an icebreaker from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at the Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and will not be sold at the door.
