Everywhere she went, Julie Pagel received a hero’s welcome.

Despite language barriers, the MSU junior forward and the rest of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Foreign Tour team were well-received as they traveled across Europe on June 14-24 to play against teams from Belgium and Holland.

The team, composed of outstanding players from the Big Ten conference, went 5-0 overseas.

Pagel said even after defeating Belgium’s national team in the final game, the Meetjesland fans cheered for the All Stars.

“The kids ran up to us and asked for our jerseys, so we gave them to them,” Pagel said. “We took pictures of them with our jerseys on
