MSU swimming head coach Jim Lutz announced the promotion of assistant swimming coach Matt Gianiodis to associate head coach.

The change is effective as of July 1.

“I am very thankful for this promotion and the support from the athletic department,” Gianiodis said in a written statement. “I love Michigan State and hope to be with the program for many years to come.”

Gianiodis worked as the assistant swimming coach for the last five years. From 1995-97, he was the assistant men’s swimming coach at St. Bonaventure.
