Lansing Center to hold annual housing expo

The fourth annual Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing breaks ground June 10 at the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Ave.

An expected 1,300 people will be in attendance, representing developers, nonprofit groups, affordable housing advocates and homeless service providers. The conference runs until June 12.

The conference is organized by Jess Sobel manager of technical assistance of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

“During the year, they’re all working really hard on their piece of the world. This is an opportunity for them to get together and take a break from the important day to day work,” Sobel said. “It gives them the chance to reflect, learn new skills, share new ideas and get excited again about why they’re involved in trying to deal with affordable housing in the first place.”

Individuals or organizations interested in attending or receiving further information regarding affordable housing issues may visit the conference web site at www.housingconference.org.
