This is in response to the letter “Sign didn’t equate star with swastika” (SN 4/16).
The sign displaying the Star of David (or the Israeli flag, as the student stated in her letter) equaling a swastika had no other message but anti-Semitism. In no way can someone display a swastika and try to convince anyone the message is peaceful or not anti-Semitic.
If a message of opposition was what the activists wanted to display, it could have been shown in a different way. No matter what the situation, a swastika is highly offensive, distasteful and in no way represents anything peaceful.
