The Ten Pound Fiddle Coffeehouse concert series presents Open Mic Night at 8 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 855 Grove St. Singers and musicians are invited to show up early, bring their own instruments, and sign up for a lottery starting at 7:15 p.m. Only acoustic musicians are asked to perform - no amplifiers. Sound is provided by the Ten Pound Fiddle Coffeehouse. Performers get free admission. Ticket prices are $5 for all nonperformers. The Michigan Science Fiction Writers Series presents Jim C. Hines, a 1996 MSU graduate and author of numerous articles and fantasy stories, at 7:30 p.m. in W449 Main Library. The BoarsHead Theater presents Three Days of Rain by Richard Greenberg, at 8 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday. The story follows a family who finds their deceased fathers journal. The BoarsHead Theater is located in the Center for the Arts Building at the corner of Grand and Lenawee, across from the Capital Area Transportation Authority Bus Depot and Lansing State Journal building.
