Postponed talk by journalist rescheduled

March 18, 2002

After postponing her visit to campus because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Laurie Garrett, the only journalist to have won the Pulitzer, Peabody and Polk awards, will lecture in the Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre.

The event, “Betrayal of Trust: The Collapse of Global Public Health” will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. It is free of charge and open to the public.

Garrett was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1996 for her work on the Ebola virus in Africa.

Garrett, who writes for Newsday, also has worked for National Public Radio and frequently appears in national television programs and contributes to publications such as Esquire.

The presentation is the first lecture in a series sponsored by the Jacqua Foundation Symposium.
