I want to express my appreciation to the MSU officials who made Norton AntiVirus available to all students, free of charge. I also would like to thank The State News for helping to get the word out about this great protection for home computers (“‘U’ offers free virus-protection software,” SN 1/29).

I only hope students take advantage of this great offer. If all 44,000 of the licenses made available to students are utilized, it could make a significant dent in the spread of troublesome computer viruses. Because this software package helps prevent the spread of viruses, it not only benefits the MSU community but the entire computer-using world. Great job, MSU.
