No More Drama re-release an upbeat compliment to original

February 13, 2002

If you’re walking through the music store and see two different Mary J. Blige CD covers, don’t think she is trying to be stylish or cause drama. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul just wanted a change.

And who ever said change wasn’t good?

The new “No More Drama,” album is definitely hot; its cover features a glossy-lipped MJB wearing a ravishing red alligator jacket and glasses.

This version of “No More Drama” was released Jan. 29; a revision of the first and more mellow “No More Drama” released in August. The new album includes “Rainy Dayz,” featuring Ja Rule, “He Think I Don’t Know” and a reunion with P. Diddy for the remix of the title song, “No More Drama.”

Blige, who is known for being personal on her albums, sings about subjects that show she has come full circle with life and is tired of all the drama.

From beginning to the end, the album gives you beats that get your body moving. Blige tries something new by adding a poem, demonstrating her now recent dramaless life, and rapping on the album’s first track, “Love.”

If you’re looking for the softer Mary who sings “Give Me You” on the “Mary” CD, then you need to go look at your old CD collection. Because throughout the “No More Drama” album, MJB is looking to make you dance and focus on being happy about life.
