Police briefs 12/04/01

A man broke into a building on Michigan Avenue and sexually assaulted a resident, said East Lansing Police Department Capt. Juli Liebler. The man had left the scene when officers arrived. The man is described as a black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 240 pounds with a large muscular build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with embroidered letters.• A female student reported a CD receiver stolen from her car in a parking lot at Spartan Village on Sunday, said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. The student’s 1989 Mercury was parked in the lot and was locked. The receiver is valued at $250. Police have no suspects.• Four female students reported nuisance telephone calls between 2:30 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. Sunda in Wilson hall, McGlothian-Taylor said. Two students received 10 phone calls each, one received five calls and the fourth student received one call. The caller is a male who asked questions about the students’ boyfriends. Police have no suspects.• A male student reported exterior damage to his car in Lot 83 on Service Road, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student’s 1993 Chevy Cavalier received a dent to the right rear quarter panel and the left rear tail light was broken between Friday and Sunday. Damages are estimated at $850. Police have no suspects.• A female student reported her 1996 Plymouth broken into in a parking lot at Spartan Village, McGlothian-Taylor said. CDs, a faceplate and a cell phone charger valued at $190 were taken. It is unsure if the vehicle’s doors were locked, but there are no signs of forced entry. Police have no suspects.• Several items of clothing were taken from a female student’s Emmons Hall room between Nov. 19 and Nov. 27, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said her door was locked when she left for Thanksgiving break. The estimated loss is $150. Police have no suspects and are investigating.
