Womens crew team takes second place

Despite windy conditions, the MSU women’s crew team ended its season Sunday with a second-place finish at the Head of the Elk in Elkhart, Ind. hosted by the Indiana Rowing Association.

The first varsity boat in the open fours even took second, finishing just 21 seconds behind Louisville in a time of 16:07.04. The second varsity fours boat won its race with a time of 16:26.69.

Junior Kate Gay placed second in the open single competition with a time of 18:55.85. She came in behind Laura Brun of the Lansing Oar and Paddle Club.

The women’s open eight race beat the Michigan by almost 20 seconds to finished first with a time of 13:31.48.

The MSU novice boat also had its first away regatta. The first novice boat took third place overall with a time of 16:17.95.
