Puddle of Mudd aptly named

Puddle of Mudd

Come Clean

(Flawless)

Rap rocker Fred Durst has been anything but original in recent years, and his latest contribution to the music industry is nothing new.

Only this time, it isn’t another recycled Limp Bizkit record, it’s the debut album of Puddle of Mudd

Puddle of Mudd is the first band signed to Durst’s upstart label Flawless Record. Like all music influenced by Durst’s Midas touch, no one is going to remember it in five years.

People will remember Creed.

If you’ve heard Creed then you’ve already heard the entire Puddle of Mudd album. From the moaning guitars to the depressing voice of lead singer Wesley Scantlin, Puddle of Mudd has its act together. Unfortunately for the band and anyone who has to listen to these songs anywhere but in a bowling alley, the band’s act was perfected five years ago by Creed.

Puddle of Mudd is just another name in the long list of hard-rock wannabes. Leave it up to Durst and his cohorts to try and make a dollar off of them.

The one good thing I can say about Puddle of Mudd is it is aptly named. Other possible names would be “Toilet Water,” “Cow Pie” and “That Thing I Coughed Up That One Time.”

If you must listen to “Come Clean,” it really won’t matter what track I suggest because they all sound the same. But please, don’t waste your time listening to “She Hates Me.” Only in a drunken and depressed haze would this song seem even remotely worth playing, and if you’re already drunken and depressed, this song will only sour your mood, as you realize rock ‘n’ roll has truly gone down the crapper.
