Saginaw recruit Roberson leaning toward Florida

June 28, 2001

Basketball recruit Anthony Roberson, of Saginaw High, apparently will make his college decision sometime before July 6.

However, signs are indicating he won’t be putting on a green and white hat at the press conference.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior-to-be point guard has narrowed his potential college teams to two, but sources say he is leaning away from MSU and toward the Florida Gators.

“My sources tell me that Florida is definitely the team to beat,” BlueChipHoops.com editor Dave Telep told The State News on Wednesday.

Roberson, who is considered one of the best players in the state for the 2002 recruiting class, was reportedly on campus Tuesday, possibly getting MSU’s last pitch before he makes a decision.

Telep said Roberson’s decision has probably already been made and he’s just waiting for the right time to announce it.

Roberson told a SchoolSports.com reporter Wednesday he won’t make a decision today, opting to wait until the start of the ABCD Basketball Camp in July.

Roberson was reportedly also interested in Michigan and Duke, but he narrowed his decision to MSU and Florida after U-M received a commitment from Daniel Horton and Duke never made a scholarship offer.
