Column showed lack of experience

I am writing in response to Rishi Kundi’s article in Friday’s paper (“Concert-goers still need to show basic etiquette,” SN 3/16). I think is it foolish of him to say he still hates hippies, because it’s obvious he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

It bothers me he called them “smelly,” “stinky,” etc. which, based on my experience at shows, can be true. But for a lot of those people he is speaking of, they travel - go on tour - with the band and bathing is an expensive option. I know in my experience, hotels with showers are not an option. You have to make due with what you can. A lot of time is spent staying in tents or being in a car. I usually just use gallon jugs filled with water dumped over my head for a bath.

Kundi said at a concert he attended, he said he was “sweaty” and that he “danced and sang.” Well if you do that for months, you aren’t going to smell the best.

I think Kundi should experience something before writing about and criticizing it. The people who attend “hippie” concerts are there to have fun and enjoy the music. It sounds to me like you need to follow your own advice and not be a snob.

Try going to a String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, or Moe.show just to name a few, you might learn something and have fun too. And just a side note, String Cheese will be on campus in April.
