Police briefs 02/20/01

A 21-year-old male student reported he was assaulted by a 20-year-old male student in his Shaw Hall room.The student said a man he knew to live several rooms away banged several times on his door at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, MSU police Lt. Kelly Beck said. The student asked the man to stop, to which he replied “I want to fight.”The student told police the man appeared intoxicated and entered his room, pushing him and grabbing him by the collar. When he still declined to fight the man, he left, Beck said.The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

  • MSU police officers found a small amount of marijuana in a Case Hall resident’s room Saturday after hall staff noticed the odor of marijuana smoke, Beck said.Police said the marijuana, found in a desk drawer, belonged to a 19-year-old male student living in the room. The student also was cited for underage drinking.An unidentified person in the room was taken to Sparrow Hospital in an incapacitated state from alcohol, Beck said.The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
  • A 20-year-old female student reported her vehicle’s passenger window broken Saturday.The student parked her vehicle in Lot 50, near the International Center, between 12:40 a.m. and 1:12 p.m., MSU police Lt. Kelly Beck said.Police have no suspects.
