Police briefs 02/13/01

An 18-year-old male student was taken to the hospital after he got in a fight with a South Hubbard Hall mentor.The student had been upset and the mentor notified police that he had been smoking marijuana in his room when he started a fight between 10:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sunday, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The 22-year-old male mentor was not injured and is not pressing charges with police.The student received a cut over his eye.

  • Three vehicles were found with the driver’s side window broken Sunday while parked at the Pavilion for Livestock and Agriculture Education.An MSU police officer on routine patrol discovered the break-ins between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday, Willis said.A purse valued at $58 was taken from one vehicle.Damage is estimated at $600. Police have no suspects, but an investigation is ongoing.
  • A 22-year-old male student found his vehicle parked in Lot 67 by Jenison Field House broken into Sunday.A case of CDs and the faceplate of the CD-stereo was stolen, Willis said. The items had been taken between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday.The student told police the vehicle had been locked and was found locked. Police have no suspects.
  • An 18-year-old male North Hubbard Hall resident and 18-year-old Emmons Hall resident were cited for smoking marijuana in their rooms Friday.Both students admitted smoking marijuana when approached by police, Willis said.The cases have been forwarded to the campus judiciary system.
  • A 19-year-old student reported his car parked in Lot 75 at Kalamazoo Street and Harrison Avenue broken into.It appears someone pried open the driver’s side door between Jan. 15 and Friday and took the car stereo, Willis said.The stolen stereo is valued at $200. Damage is estimated at $200. Police have no suspects.
