Police briefs 02/02/01

Three vehicles parked in Lot 89 at Farm Lane and Mount Hope Road were broken into between 4 a.m. Wednesday and 2:20 a.m. Thursday.The stereos were stolen out of two vehicles and a failed attempt was made to take the third, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The would-be thief or thieves gained access to all three vehicles by breaking windows. The vehicles were all owned by MSU students.The stolen goods are estimated at $1,620. Damage to the three vehicles is estimated at $950. Police have no suspects.

  • A 21-year-old student reported his car stereo stolen from his vehicle parked in Lot 75 at Kalamazoo Street and Harrison Avenue.The driver’s-side window had been broken to gain access to the car between 11 p.m. Jan. 25 and noon Wednesday, Willis said.The dashboard had been damaged in an effort to get the car stereo.The stolen radio is valued at $300. Damage is estimated at $500. Police have no suspects.
  • A Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition worker reported a digital lab balance stolen from an Anthony Hall lab.The balance was taken from the B-wing lab between 5 a.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday, Willis said. The room is usually locked and there were no signs of forced entry.The balance is valued at $435. Police have no suspects.
