Playboy guru advises U

February 6, 2001

Have you ever wondered if astronauts have had sex in space?

If so, Playboy magazine adviser Chip Rowe will be at MSU on Friday with the answer to that and other strange, sexy or hilarious questions running through your brain.

Rowe is coming to Spartan country through efforts of the Campus Center, a student organization that provides weekend entertainment at the International Center and Wells Hall.

“We wanted to sponsor a night with a theme about health and well-being,” said Shaw Locke, vice-chairperson for the Campus Center. “We figured a discussion about sex fits that topic.”

Rowe will speak and field questions beginning at 10 p.m. Friday in the Erickson Hall Kiva. His duties at Playboy entail answering inquisitive letters sent to the magazine’s editor.

The sex-talk night is a new topic being tackled by the 2-year-old Campus Center.

“This is a very original idea on our part,” Locke said. “Of course, a lot of stuff we do is original given the young age of our organization.”

The event is free to MSU students, faculty and staff. But because of limited seating - about 400 spots - tickets will be required to hear the Playboy speaker.

Free tickets can be picked up by showing an MSU ID between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. this week in room 323 at the Union or at the door Friday evening. Non MSU-affiliated guests are welcome with picture ID, though MSU students, faculty and staff will be given seating priority.

In addition to Rowe’s visit, the Olin Sexual Health Team will be on hand from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the International Center lobby and free massages will be offered in the center’s Spartan rooms.

A disk jockey also will be spinning dance records in Crossroads Food Court.
