Skiing hills close to E.L. ignored

The article on skiing in Friday’s entertainment section (“Skiing Michigan”) left out a few important ski hills close to East Lansing. I am from the Detroit area, and Mount Brighton isn’t the only ski hill near school. Three of the most popular hills in Michigan are only an hour or two away.

Located in Holly, Mount Holly is the tallest hill in southern Michigan, at 350 feet, and it has 18 trails. Just south of Mount Holly is Pine Knob, home to the famous “wall,” a 300-foot vertical cliff not for the novice skier. If you’re looking for the ski area with the most trails and scenery, you can discover Alpine Valley in White Lake.

If you don’t feel like traveling hours north, these three places provide more options in southern Michigan.
