Police briefs 01/11/01

MSU police found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a knife Monday in a Wonders Hall dorm room.A mentor called police when he noticed the smell of marijuana coming from a 19-year-old male student’s room, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said. The student allowed police to enter the room and search, denying that he had been smoking.“So we searched the room and we found marijuana,” Willis said.Police also found rolling papers, marijuana pipes and a switchblade. The resident was cited for possession of marijuana and the campus judiciary was notified of the weapons violation.University ordinances prohibit possession of weapons in residence halls.Also, a 19-year-old male Lansing Community College student in the room was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.The drug violations were passed to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.

  • A computer and projector were reported stolen from a Kedzie Hall third-floor computer lab between Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.The equipment, valued at $1,511, belonged to the Center for Integrative Studies in General Science.The lab is normally locked, but was found open on Dec. 8, Willis said. There were no signs of forced entry. Police have no suspects.
  • A 19-year-old male Hubbard Hall resident reported someone entered his room and removed $120 from his top dresser drawer during winter break.The student reported he locked his room when he left for winter break and the door was locked when he returned, Willis said.Police have no suspects.
