Column: Coaching tweak sparks creativity in MSU’s offense

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Thankfully, the MSU men’s soccer team (3-5-1) made a few changes in its offense before reaching a level of insanity, playing with two forwards instead of one for the first time all season in its 2-1 win over Western Michigan on Friday.

Spartans earn first home victory in 2-1 bout with Western Michigan

Friday night brought the MSU men’s soccer team (3-5-1) one accomplishment it’s been struggling to reach all season: a home win. The team’s victory came in a 2-1 win against in-state rival Western Michigan, now 7-2-0, and slight changes to the offense seemed to get the ball rolling for the Spartans.

The MSU men’s soccer team will take the field on Friday looking for something they haven’t found this year: a home win. The Spartans (2-5-1) take on Western Michigan at 5 p.m. Friday at DeMartin Soccer Complex at Old College Field.
