MSU Hockey head coach Tom Anastos announced on May 29 that defenseman Josh Jacobs would not be returning for the 2015-2016 season, instead choosing to pursue professional interests elsewhere.
Just one week after Providence won the NCAA championship, MSU hockey head coach Tom Anastos took some time to look back on the Spartans season. Even though MSU’s season ended on a sour note with a loss to Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament, Anastos still found plenty of positives.
“I think he’s the most important player on any college hockey team,” senior forward Brent Darnell said.
Teams from across the country competed for the title, but MSU came out on top.
In front of a sold-out crowd of 6,042 at Munn Ice Arena, MSU hockey (15-14-2, 9-6-2-2 Big Ten) picked up an important win with just three games left in the season. The Spartans beat Wisconsin 3-0 on Friday night behind junior goaltender Jake Hildebrand’s fifth shutout of the season.
