For the first time since 2012, the Michigan State men's hockey team is headed back to the NCAA Championships, more commonly known as the Frozen Four, after a season-clinching Big Ten regular season title and a thrilling overtime Big Ten Tournament title.

As the clock ran down and the crowd inside Munn Ice Arena was on its feet, the winning goal slipped past the University of Michigan goaltender, hit the side of the post and went into the net. Freshman defenseman Patrick Geary, the player who scored the final goal, went skating toward freshman goaltender Trey Augustine, his teammates following, as the Spartans conquered their mission of becoming not only Big Ten regular season champions but also the Big Ten Tournament champions, all in one season.

The time had come for Michigan State men's hockey. A chance to prove itself as the team it had shown the whole season. With the opportunity to host the Big Ten championship game, the Spartans welcomed the University of Michigan Wolverines. After a game that lasted three full periods and an overtime, the Michigan State hockey team took home the win and was crowned tournament champions, after a 5-4 win.

Five wrestlers represented Michigan State at the wrestling Division One NCAA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri, which spanned three days from Thursday, March 21 to Saturday, March 23. Two Spartans – senior Caleb Fish and graduate student Layne Malczewski – made it past the first day of sessions to advance further into the tournament.

The Michigan State women’s basketball team had been playing all season with a success that not many people expected. A brand new coach, Robyn Fralick, some new faces and a recent history of not making it to the NCAA Tournament left people wondering how far this season's "trial-run" team will go. After going 22-9 in overall play and 12-6 in conference play, Michigan State's season came to an end after a close finish against the University of North Carolina ended in a 59-56 defeat, sending the Spartans home to East Lansing after the Round of 64 in March Madness.

The Michigan State women's basketball team, making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2021, began March Madness with a battle against a University of North Carolina team in its fourth straight tournament appearance. Fighting until the very end, the Spartans came up just short and were ultimately defeated 59-56 in the first round of the tournament, sending head coach Robyn Fralick and the rest of the Spartans home to East Lansing.
