In my last column, I used a “Breaking Bad” reference to talk about Michigan State's ability to come into opposing arenas, fall behind and then suck the energy out of a crowd.

Amid multiple scandals than involve his alma mater, former MSU basketball star and Hall of Fame player Earvin "Magic" Johnson called for the accountability of university officials Monday.
The 2017 calendar year had a lot of moments in MSU athletics, ranging from a star player returning to a program, to four players getting kicked out of a program.
A mentor. A coach. A foundation of MSU basketball. A friend. A guiding, caring, charismatic man, that only comes once every so often.
On Monday night, MSU Athletics announced in a press release that legendary basketball coach Jud Heathcote died at 90 in Spokane, Washington. Heathcote was the head coach for the Spartans for 19 years.

It’s official, MSU star forward Miles Bridges will remain on the MSU men’s basketball team for another season.
First reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, MSU forward Miles Bridges cancelled meetings with agents and was leaning toward returning for a sophomore season. In his latest report, Wojnarowski said "barring a late change in heart," Bridges will return for his sophomore season.

On March 26, 1979, Scott Westerman, like many other MSU students, alumni and fans, huddled around the television cheering on his Spartans in the NCAA title game against Indiana State. Less than a year after his graduation from MSU Westerman was living in the Lansing area with his wife, who was pregnant with the couple’s first child — their daughter, Shelby.
