Yesterday, MSU and Nike unveiled the special Nike Pro Combat uniforms the MSU football team will wear in its rivalry game against Michigan on Oct. 15 at Spartan Stadium.

The uniform goes against traditional MSU garb with bronze and black serving as secondary colors to the mainstay green.

According to Nike, bronze was added to symbolize the Spartan namesake as well as their strength and durability. Football head coach Mark Dantonio said he likes the looks of the special uniforms.
“Our players were very, very excited about it,” Dantonio said.

“So I like it. I think it’s cutting edge. (The team is) going to wear them for one game. It will make a statement for one game.”

The Pro Combat system uniforms streamline the design to help cool and protect the body and limit visual distractions.

Gloves accompanying the uniform form the Spartan head logo when placed together.

The ancient Greek phrase “Molon Labe” is inscribed on the back collar, which roughly translates to “Come and get them,” to further Spartan theme.

MSU is one of nine teams chosen to wear the unique designs of the Pro Combat system this season.
