The Michigan Department of Transportation opened bids Wednesday for the Capitol Loop project in downtown Lansing. The project had been scaled back in response to local concerns.
MDOT officials said work will begin this spring and will include road reconstruction, combined sewer overflow separation, water main upgrades and streetscape enhancement.
The spring repairs involve improvements to Ottawa Street, Allegan Street, Pine Street, Walnut Street and Capitol Avenue in downtown Lansing.
Further work is planned in stages in order to reduce the inconvenience to motorists, residents and business owners.
