Following a devastating 7-1 loss for the Michigan State Spartans hockey team at Munn against the Michigan Wolverine last night, the Spartans were ready to get back into their style of play away at Yost Ice Arena. The team was able to make a comeback from a 1-4 deficit halfway through the second period and take home a dominating 7-5 win.
Against the Michigan Wolverines, the Spartans took a tough loss with a final score of 7-1, their first regulation loss since Oct. 28 when the team was swept by Boston College.
As the highly ranked Michigan State Spartans were ready to play, they ended up taking a heartbreaking loss to the Wolverines with a score of 7-1.

As the clock wound down in the final period and the Spartans continued domination over the US National Team Development Program, senior goaltender Jon Mor received a tap on the shoulder from associate head coach Jared DeMichiel. After spending four hardworking years at MSU, DeMichiel told more Mor to “get ready.”
After a tough loss in the championship game of the Great Lakes Invitational, the Spartans were finally back home for an exhilarating exhibition matchup against the US National Team Development Program (NTDP) where they played an absolutely dominant full 60 minutes and took a win with a score of 5-2.
There were two players who had stand-out performances and were nominated as members of the GLI All-Tournament Team honors, and those two were sophomore forward Joey Larson who tallied two goals in the championship game and junior defenseman David Gucciardi, who had an outstanding pass to junior forward Red Savage to tie the game to send the teams to overtime.

As the USA world junior selection camp comes to a close and the show begins, two Michigan State hockey players have been selected to join Team USA in the fight for a gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Championship. One thing that yet again stuck out during the Friday night matchup, was the third line of freshman forward Gavin O'Connell, sophomore forward Joey Larson, and junior forward Red Savage. The O'Connell-Savage-Larson line put up a goal tonight from Larson who now has a total of 19 points with 9 goals and 10 assists to hold a team lead in points.

The teams take off for the series on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. at Munn Ice Arena. The Spartans will most definitely looking to sweep for the home crowd and keep their lead in the Big Ten conference.
As the Spartans head into early December, just about halfway through the season, the announcement of preliminary selection camps were announced for the IIHF World Juniors Championships. There were five Spartans selected to head to the camp for their respective countries: freshman goaltender Trey Augustine, sophomore forward Isaac Howard, freshman defenseman Patrick Geary, freshman defenseman Maxim Štrbák and freshman forward Tommi Männistö.
