McDonel Hall’s fourth floor flooded this morning, originating from a faulty toilet in one of the dorm rooms, according to Owen Hall Service Center.

Freshman and McDonel resident Cairington Stahl woke up this morning to her roommates screaming about the hallway being filled with water.

“We walk outside and our almost whole half of the fourth floor of McDonel west was covered in water,” Stahl said, in a text message.

The issue with the toilet that caused the flooding is still unclear. According to Stahl, the toilet in question was flushing in two-minute intervals and then ceased working the prior night. By the morning, it had flooded the entire floor.

Stahl said that maintenance responded immediately.

Photos received by The State News at approximately 10 a.m. this morning showed that maintenance had cleared a large portion of the hallway of water.

No personal belongings were seriously damaged in the original room, said Stahl. However, this has yet to be confirmed by the room's residents.
