Phil Throop from Wildflower Eco Farm introduces a product to a customer during the East Lansing Farmer's Market on June 4, 2017 at Valley Court Park. The East Lansing Farmer's Market is a growers-only market and every item sold by vendors is homegrown.

Just before the East Lansing Farmers Market ends for the year, the market will throw its ninth annual Autumn Fest from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Oct. 14 at Valley Court Park.

Attendees can enjoy complimentary donuts and cider catered from Quality Dairy. The festival will offer entertainment including horse-and-wagon rides, an outdoor fire pit, fall-inspired craft activities for children and performances from Dan Dan Laird and The Suzuki Program students.

Market manager Karla Forrest-Hewitt said the festival is a family event where residents are encouraged to get fresh produce and support local agriculture.

“It's normally a good turnout and people look forward to it for a while,” Hewitt said. “It's a way for them to get produce before the end of the market.”

The event will have vendors from across the region selling items like coffee, meat, vegetables, fruit and more.

The East Lansing Farmers Market ends Oct. 28. After the market closes for the year, the city has one more event with vendors and produce called Winter Glow scheduled for Dec. 1, Forrest-Hewitt said.
