Students, parents and faculty will take to the Michigan Capitol on Saturday and march to remember those whose lives were lost to mass violence.

The March for Our Lives will walk from the Hall of Justice to the Capitol East Lawn from 10-10:30 a.m.

Following the march will be a memorial for the victims of gun violence. The march comes 10 days after a National School Walkout on March 14. Droves of people also rallied on the steps of the Michigan Capitol that same day just hours after the walkout.

The march also comes 20 years after a school shooting that occurred on March 24, 1998, according to the Facebook event.

After the memorial, there will be a number of speakers presenting. Speeches will end around noon to wrap up the event.

Some of the presenters include artist Joel Schoon Tanis, Sen. Hoon-Yung Hopgood, D-Taylor, Rep. Tom Cochran, school psychologist Kelly Zetting, Holt High School junior Adele Colson and a 12 year-old girl who was in the Mandalay Bay Hotel during the Las Vegas shooting.

“On March 24th, students, parents, teachers, and concerned citizens will join together to remember those who have been murdered by senseless gun violence,” the Facebook event reads. “We will not just remember, but we will assemble to make a stand that we will not let gun violence continue in America.”
