As part of an ongoing police investigation concerning the assault of advertising junior Brandon Carmack, a State News staffer has submitted a statement to the East Lansing Police Department.
The staffer called 911 as a bystander after witnessing a disturbance during the morning of Aug. 28 in the 600 block of Grand River Avenue. It wasn’t until days later the staffer and authorities realized the incident could be related to Carmack’s case.
The staffer was off duty at the time and was not acting in any journalistic role whatsoever with The State News. The individual has not and will not have any involvement in any future stories related to the assault and its investigation.
The staffer’s statement to police has not been provided to The State News.
