Police and paramedics respond to bicyclist on Grand River Avenue

Police and fire paramedics responded to the scene of an injured bicyclist fallen and unable to breathe at 9:45 a.m. today on the corner of Grand River Avenue and Division Street.

Parking and Code Enforcement, or PACE, officer Paul Weidner discovered the bicyclist was having respiratory difficulties and began CPR. East Lansing Police Department and East Lansing Fire Department arrived to continue CPR and transfer the bicyclist to Sparrow Hospital.

The ELPD reported the cause of the incident was not a traffic accident, but a pre-existing medical condition.

ELPD officials said the incident is currently under investigation.
