Men's soccer earns draw in regular season finale

November 7, 2010

The MSU men’s soccer team finished up its regular season with a tie at Wisconsin-Milwaukee Saturday.

The Spartans finish the season with a 11-6-1 record.

The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute when junior defender Mark Barone crossed a pass to junior forward Brent Rosendall. Rosendall put the shot from eight yards out past the Panthers’ goalie.

MSU was unable to keep the lead when Wisconsin-Milwaukee tied the game with 2:01 left on the clock. After playing 20 minutes of overtime soccer, the game ended in a tie.

A combined 52 fouls and seven yellow cards were called between the teams.

The Spartans will start their postseason at Penn State on Thursday for the Big Ten Tournament. MSU is the No. 6 seed in the Big Ten with a record of 2-4 and will play the No. 3 seed, (which we’ll find out later Sunday).
