Columbus, Ohio — Sophomore guard Durrell Summers scored a career-high 26 points and sophomore guard Kalin Lucas scored all 20 of his points in the second half as the No. 7 MSU basketball team defeated Ohio State 78-67 in a come-from-behind win at Value City Arena.

Summers, getting his third start of the season, went 6-for-9 from beyond the three-point line and matched his previous career-high of 16 points by halftime to help the Spartans improve to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten.

Evan Turner (19), Jon Diebler (12), B.J. Mullens (12) and William Buford (11) all scored in double figures for the Buckeyes, who fell
to 13-5, 3-4 in conference play.

Trailing 31-26 at halftime, the Spartans slowly climbed their way back into the game and a layup by Lucas tied the score at 50 with 11:22 remaining. The Spartans went on a 7-0 run to take what was then their biggest lead of the game, 57-50 with 7:40 to go.

An Ohio State three-pointer by Diebler cut MSU’s deficit to three with about six minutes remaining, but the Spartans continued to extend their lead and eventually hung on for the win.

Senior center Goran Suton also had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Spartans, who continue Big Ten play against Iowa (12-8, 2-5) at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Iowa City, Iowa.
