During Wednesday’s men’s basketball game at Breslin Center, it was all Spartans – the MSU Spartans, not the San Jose State Spartans.
Although both teams boast a Spartan head as their logo, head coach Tom Izzo’s MSU squad won the war on the court, defeating San Jose State 85-45.
Sophomore forward Raymar Morgan and freshman guard Durrell Summers led the green-and-white No. 9 Spartans (10-1), both finishing with 16 points each.
Three other MSU players reached double-digits as well.
Junior guard Travis Walton racked up 10 assists in the contest, despite 1-for-6 shooting.
San Jose State’s DaShawn Wright led the blue-and-yellow Spartans with 17 points, as Chris Oakes shipped in with nine.
Izzo said he was impressed his team had 25 assists on 38 field goals while playing an up-tempo style.
Yet the roller-coaster gameplay was still present, Izzo said.
“I say that because we didn’t rebound the ball, we made some sloppy turnovers again and even though some guys scored some points
