Several MSU baseball players earned All-Big Ten honors Tuesday afternoon. The announcements came after MSU narrowly missed the Big Ten Tournament with a 8-7 loss to Illinois on Sunday.

Steve Gerstenberger, a junior, was named to the second team as a second baseman. Gerstenberger ended the season on a 12-game hitting streak. During that stretch, he batted .475 and ended the year with a .368 batting average. His 77 hits were fifth-best among Big Ten players.

Jon Kibler, also a junior, was named to the third team as starting pitcher. He led the MSU pitching staff in wins, going 5-5 with a 4.34 earned run average.

Senior starting pitcher Craig Brookes was named MSU's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.

MSU finished the season with a 25-26 overall record and a 15-16 mark in Big Ten play.
