This Sunday the Oscars are on, rivaling the beginning of MSU's spring break for the biggest thing going on this weekend. To celebrate the 78th Academy Awards, and the fact that you don't have to go to class on Monday, spend Sunday night sipping on Oscars Cocktails.
This classy drink is easy to make, tastes great and you won't have to drink too many before you're feeling tipsy. Serve it in fancy cocktail glasses to feel rich and famous while you watch your favorite celebrities accept, or pretend to be happy for the person accepting, awards.
FYI: This drink contains alcohol, so you must be 21 or older to legally purchase or consume it.
Supplies:
Martini glasses
Vodka
Cranberry juice
Fruity pop we used cherry 7-Up Plus
Maraschino cherries
Directions:
Put a maraschino cherry in the bottom of the cocktail glass if you don't have a cocktail pick to display it on. Add the desired number of vodka shots we recommend two. Next, evenly split cranberry juice and fruity-flavored pop to fill the rest of the glass. If you have a cocktail pick, spear it through the cherry and display decoratively.
Cost of ingredients:
A fifth of Five O'Clock Vodka will cost you about $6.00. A jug of cranberry juice is about $3. The pop will cost you a dollar and some change. The maraschino cherries will set you back about $2. I'm sure you can get your hands on some cocktail glasses for free, so overall the drinks will be about $13.
When best to serve: At upscale events with classy guests, such as an Oscars party.
Tastes like: A bold, fruity delight. You won't be able to discern a strong alcohol taste. Usually takes on the flavor of cranberry mixed with whatever kind of pop you use; the combination of the two effectively overpower the vodka. This drink is reminiscent of those kiddie virgin cocktails you might have had as a kid.
How many until you're tipsy?
It will only take one or two until you're feeling it.
