All eyes might be on Detroit this Sunday, but many MSU students will have their bodies firmly planted in East Lansing. If you just can't bring yourself to spend the roughly $4,000 eBay asking price for a ticket, don't despair. Whether you live on campus or in the city, you can still watch the Seahawks take on the Steelers in style.
On campus
Owen Hall: A projection screen will be set up in the main lobby of the hall. And it will be large, said Daniel Guild, assistant hall director.
"It's just a big screen bigger than I am," he said. "We're going to throw the game up on that."
Visitors can visit the a la carte cafeteria the only one of its kind on campus to pick up some food and settle down to watch the game.
Case Hall: A classroom will be taken over by a big screen TV, a root beer keg, sandwiches and pizza for the hall's Super Bowl party. Case Hall Director Edwin Darrell said about a hundred people showed up to watch the show last year. The festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. in 339 South Case.
Wonders Hall: The game will be up on a projector screen in the Kiva. Along with snacks, hall mentors will do a multicultural bingo participants will try to guess ahead of time the number of advertisements that will show an older person, minority or member of the LGBT community, said assistant hall director Brian Winters. The person who comes the closest will receive a small prize.
"(We're doing this) to make people recognize what level of awareness or sensitivity they have to what they're seeing of those different groups," Winters said. "To increase their awareness and sensitivity to what they see in front of them."
