State News Tipsters

Even though I live on campus, I'd say a large part of my day is spent getting from one point to another. Location is key to cutting down on time spent purely on transportation. When scheduling classes or picking a dorm before the school year begins, make sure you have an idea of how much time it takes to get from place to place. For the off-campus residents at MSU, consider how much time it would take driving to class and parking. Walk or drive the distances yourself, if possible, so you can accurately compare your scheduling options.

It's ideal to use a variety of transportation methods on campus, as well. It might seem like a good idea to hop on a bus during winter, but sometimes it takes a shorter length of time to walk somewhere because of all the stops that are made. In warmer weather, biking or rollerblading usually cuts down walking time by half, too.
